Long Weekend in CNY

Last week, Grandma Pat and Uncle Ben tookIzzy and me up to Jack's Reef to visit Great Grandpa Retchless and Aunt Jeanne. The car's trunk was full of baby stuff and luggage and more baby stuff. It was good thing I brought the stroller since we used it nearly everyday since Izzy likes to be held only for so long. Izzy was a good sleeper at night during the whole time. Even through some pretty big thunderstorms.

Are we there yet?

Thursday, Grandma took Izzy for a walk around Beaver Lake Park. We had fun watching the birds on the bird feeders and sitting next to the lake enjoying the view. Izzy had a nap.

Saturday, the girls all went to Skaneatles while Ben and Grandpa stayed home. Grandma got Izzy some cute overalls with snails all over them (they're in the wash now) and the rest of us bought a bunch of cards. Then we went to the park and watched people and listened to old time music coming from a paddle boat.

What's that big boat?

Jeanne likes to play :)

So does Izzy :D

Sunday was a big bridal shower for cousin-to-be Kristie. Izzy was a hit with the ladies and was very well behaved through the event. She managed to take a nap through the brunch and I got to eat. She woke up for the presents and ate her own brunch.

Grandma's turn

It's been a long day, Mom

Monday, we took the long trek home. Izzy had a nap while we packed the car. Of course, her pack-n-play was already packed, but her booster seat wasn't.

Uncle Ben was a big help carrying Izzy around.

Yay! Home!

And Daddy :)

First Father's Day

Izzy waited until we got some quiet time at home to give Daddy her card and presents. Now Daddy has a framed picture collage for his office and a big bag of Twizzlers. Hopefully he'll share :)

Father's Day with the Hornings

For Father's Day, we went down to Warwick, RI to have a Father's Day brunch for Great Grandpa Horning. We got to enjoy yummy barbeque that Aunt Martha got from Smokey Bones and cannolis from Worcester. Sadly I didn't get many pictures of Izzy with anyone. Izzy was cranky since the weather was kinda yucky. It was a full house with Uncle George, Aunt Nirapa, and Cousin Sarah all come to visit Grandpa and Martha. Nirapa is a natural at entertaining babies. I'll have to get more pictures next time.

Let's get that from the front.

Last Day of School

Last Thursday was Mommy's last day of school. Now she and Izzy get to enjoy the entire summer together. Izzy joined her at the faculty party and met some of the other teachers. Izzy was quite the flirt with certain male teachers. Man, do they learn young! J.D. commented on how big she had gotten since he was the only one who saw Izzy when she was really little.

A Red Schwinn

Izzy's finally big enough to ride in her big red stroller that Grandma Pearson got her and Mommy back at Christmas. She loves being able to lay back and look at the trees and it's a much smoother ride on our rough neighborhood streets.

She'll grow into it

What a lovely maple...

Graduation Party

This weekend, the Pearsons came down to help celebrate cousin Jen's graduation from high school. It was very hot so we all spent most of the day hiding inside.

That must be one good cannoli.

One last hug from Grandpa before we go

Who's That Baby?!

Izzy has discovered the baby in the mirror. Daddy's new game is to use the mirror to distract Izzy at the slightest hint of crankiness. This of course backfires when she wonders why Mommy or Daddy is holding that other baby.

Weather not fit for Man nor Dog nor Baby

It has been HOT in the city this week. And though Izzy has continued to wake up in the morning all smiles, that has turned to crankiness by the afternoon. We gave in and just opened our bedroom door so Izzy could share in some of the A/C. She's been having difficulty napping this week which has led to some early nights (6:30 pass-out last night!) Today we tried to partake in the air-conditioning at BRU but whining won out and we left only to have her finally fall asleep as soon as we got home. I hope this weather breaks soon!
