Christmas in Maine

We finally made it up to the northlands this past weekend to celebrate Christmas with grandMa, grandPa, Aunt Kim and Livvie Lou. We had a grand time with few crises and one big snow storm. Poor Livvie had gotten tired and bit wired waiting up for us and crashed into the DVD stand upon our arrival. She got whisked away to the hospital for three whole stitches in her bottom lip. She was right as rain in the morning and helped Uncle Kris make pancakes for the whole family. Then we got to open presents. Izzy got a Pop-a-Pillar and a few new cuddle buddies. She also got a new bright red wagon that we'll get to pull her around in once this snow thaws. They got over a foot up there. Fortunately it was the fluffy stuff. Izzy had a good time playing with Livvie out in the snow. Livvie even gave her a ride in the big blue sled :)

Mini Road Trip

Saturday we wanted to get OUT of the house and went on a mini road trip out to Penzey's in Arlington. We got a little lost but that was a good thing since we ended up driving right by our friend Helene's house and she was home. So we went out for yummy Thai. Izzy ate oodles of noodles and attracted a lot of attention from the wait staff.

Izzy, where's Helene?

There she is!

10 1/2 Months Old!

We had a nice holiday season together as a family and now it's back to work and daycare. Izzy's learned a lot in the past month or so but has far to go. Fortunately she's still just a baby :) Plenty of time! She's been working harder on talking and being understood which has been a big help. She has learned to point and asks "That" which prompts us to identify what "that" is. Or maybe she's just pointing it out to show us what it is. Izzy's also learned to ask to be picked up by reaching out and is working hard on saying "Up." It's more like "Ahhhh-*Pop*" Being sick and teething has made her much more cuddly though sometimes it seems to be a ploy to get closer to my face and hair. Ouch!

Izzy's becoming more mobile but is still depending on the army crawl mode of transportation. She gets up on all fours then just can't get that left arm going forward. Today she finally crawled into the dining room which is the dog's turf. They weren't sure what to make of that. She even stole their monkey. They have since destroyed the monkey. At least it was theirs and not hers. They've been pretty good about not stealing her stuff. We've been working on standing up by holding on but she often gets distracted and wants to get back down.

Izzy has definitely gained weight and grown taller. So says my back and her clothes that keep getting smaller. She lost some ground with being sick, but she's made that back up and then some. We visit the doc in March for her one year check-up (Already?!). We're in no hurry to go back. She went 3 times in December and then last week for a flu booster. So maybe no more bad viruses. We can only hope!
