Yesterday, the girls and I walked (and rode) in the first annual Trick or Trot to benefit Special Olympics in the Worcester area. Our team raised over $1000! I dressed up like a pumpkin per Izzy's request and the girls got to get even more use out of their costumes. Izzy was a little cranky but candy and a good breakfast of bacon, potatoes, and fruit cheered her up. And she got some cotton candy from a friendly student volunteer. Mae had fun watching all of the crazy people dressed up in costumes. Our team won the "Scariest Costume" award. We had a few vampires and Grandma was a witch and Uncle Ben was a pirate captain. We saw a woman dressed as Cap'n Hook and a brave young runner in an Avatar costume which involved a skin-tight turquoise unitard. The winning team was a young family in Dr. Seuss costumes complete with twins as Thing 1 and Thing 2.
Waiting for the walk to begin. On our way (Izzy is feigning sleep to avoid the camera) "Hold my bucket, please." "No, I don't want my picture!" Izzy gets more sugar ;) Grandma shows off her Mae A Pirate and his Piglet She can't have bacon so her thumb must do Izzy is a good sharer even with Cotton Candy Tired kiddos but Mommy wants a picture. Ponyo is tired. Time to go.

Mae has a new love in her life: Food! She started eating about 2 weeks into her 4th month after she lunged repeatedly at Izzy's apple and had been getting upset that she wasn't getting her share during our meals. So we started her on some rice cereal which she gobbled right up with barely a mess. Now she's had a fair variety to start her out on her culinary adventures. Fresh-picked apples and squash, sweet potatoes, pears, and bananas. She's up to two meals a day on top of what she gets nursing. She needs to eat a lot during the day to sustain her through the night. She's up to 12 hours of sleep at night with one feeding around 4am.
Mae's favorite time is floor time. She loves the play gym Aunt Laura lent us. She just thinks that jingly ball is the bomb-diggity. She's been practicing getting around. Rarely is she where I left her on the blanket if I leave the room for a bit. More often than not she's off the blanket and onto the rug. So I expect that she'll be getting into things before too long.
Mae has warmed up to the Jeep carrier which has given us more freedom to travel. We've taken the dogs on a few Rutland walks before hunting season starts in fullest. Also she has more fun shopping since she can better see everything if she's not stuck in her car seat. In general, she prefers to be upright and that car seat cramps her style :)
Mae's Stats: 11 lb 5 oz and 23.5 inches long. 10th-25th percentile. A peanut for sure.
Mae likes: Riding in the Jeep carrier (Face out of course!) Swinging outside Trying to eat the jingly ball Food! Watching TV Picture books Belly razzberries
Mae can: Roll from her back to her front Travel halfway across the floor by rolling Grab objects with her legs Hold onto her feet Eat solid foods fed by a spoon
Mae dislikes: Waiting for the spoon Getting out of the bath Daddy coughing
Floor time is the Best time I didn't put her in her crib upside-down Got my foot! Thbbbt!
