Mae is 6 Weeks Old!

Mae is now smiling enough for me to actually catch it on film :) She really likes to hear her name which usually gets the smile. Tickling does not work since she seems to have been born ticklish in a bad way. She's a happy kid and likes hanging around. Her favorite hang outs are her changer downstairs, Daddy's arm, and anywhere outside.

Mae has a healthy appetite which I think has been helping with her sleeping. Last night she slept a full 8 hours. She really likes white noise and being swaddled. She has a tendency to flail her arms and wake herself up if they're not wrapped tightly enough. She also likes the pacifier which has been helpful when she's had enough to eat but still wants to suck on something. Mae still spits up A LOT but finally is starting to have some dry burps. So hopefully it's not forever. So much laundry!

Mae can:
Smile :)
Make noises that aren't crying
Track objects with eyes and head
Get her hands in her mouth
Hold her head up while upright
Sleep up to 8 hours at night

Mae likes:
Her big sister Izzy but not too close
Hanging out and sleeping in her changer
Baths
Pacifiers
Izzy's friends at daycare
Her new red Schwinn
Jingly baby toys on her carrier
Having her bum air-dried
Tummy time
Being held by Daddy face down on his arm

Mae dislikes:
Spitting up
Wet diapers
Long car rides
Being awake past 9pm
Loud noises

A "Joy"ful Visit

Last weekend, Joy and her kids, Adrienne and Isaac, came down to visit. The cousins had a great time playing in the yard and Izzy had her first successful sleepover. Izzy passed out by 9:30pm and Adrienne didn't last much longer after Kris turned off the light.

New Stroller

I finally ordered the girls a double stroller Monday and got it yesterday. It's awesome and bright red :) Thank you, Grandma Patty Lou. Mae fell asleep as soon as she was strapped in. We got a Schwinn Turismo which seems to be a souped up version of the single jogger we had for Izzy and love so I'm happy we were able to find something comparable. It even has an mp3 speaker that I have yet to try. So hopefully this will get me walking again and make our next trip to the Ecotarium a little less tiring for Izzy.

Izzy's ready to go.

Last Friday, we took Izzy to Aunty Dot's to swim in her pool with Aunt Kake. She had a great time swimming around in the crab float and ordering everyone to dance though of course she would dunk herself while trying to dance and tripping. By the end, Izzy was able to get herself back up to standing in the water.

Ecotarium Visit

Izzy, Mae and I went to the Ecotarium Tuesday to give Daddy a chance to get some work done. All of the animals were out trying to beat the heat. We got to see the otters swim briefly and watched some bullfrogs croaking and fighting for territory. The best was a rare view of Kenda in the viewing window under the water. Izzy also got some playtime at their playground. Of course, she went up the big kids structure instead of the one for 2-5 yr. olds.
