Road Tripping Weekend

Saturday we visited Falmouth to view a resort. No we didn't get a time share but we actually had a good time looking at the places and Izzy got to play with a big pile of toys. Other people's toys are always the best kind. She was most proud of finding a stuffed puppy that looked just like Holly.

Afterwards, we wandered around the town and visited a really nice children's bookstore. Izzy saw an octopus puppet and a big Knuffle Bunny doll. She liked rocking in their chair. We got away buying only one book though there's another one we saw I may need to order. "What?" "Chicken Butt!" Then we went back to the shore to walk on the beach for a short bit since it was getting cold and then get dinner. Izzy ate all of the cranberries off my salad and then some. I'll have to buy some this week.

Sunday after some chores and breakfast, we headed out even though it was drizzly. We went up to Toys R Us to cash in Izzy's birthday certificate. She got a balloon with Geoffry on it and a crown. We looked at a bunch of stuff but didn't get anything since I had forgotten our coupon at home. Not that the kiddo really needs any more toys. We then had a long ride to find a restaurant that must no longer exisit and so ended up right back where we started and had bbq for lunch/dinner. Izzy was just fine with that. Sweet Potato galore!

12 Months Update

Izzy Lou has accomplished a lot since the last milestones update. The major things have been climbing up to stand and cruising all over the place. We've been working on walking while holding hands since she's been too timid to go off the coffee table or couch on her own. So when she really needs to travel, crawling's the way to go. Real crawling on all fours :)

Izzy has also been trying to talk in some weird alien baby language which sounds like we should understand her. Some words come out like "dog" and "hi" and "bye" and today was a very clear "teddy." We get the feeling that she'll be talking soon especially since she's starting to get upset if we don't understand her right away. Like we're the idiots. Sheesh! Fortunately Izzy has a healthy sense of humor and laughs more than anything. She thinks anything is funny: Daddy drinking from her sippy, Mommy putting froggies on her head, Daddy laughing like a total nerd, etc. That last one, Izzy can mimic quite well. Scary.

Izzy visited the doctor for her 12 month check-up on March 5 (Grandma Lou's birthday). She weighed in at 20 lb 1 oz and measured 28.5 inches long. Izzy got most of her check-up done by a new doctor-in-training named Hannah. She was very nice and Izzy loved her. They had a few good laughs and had some fun playing with the bead toy and with Hannah's stethoscope. Dr. Callahan-Butler was a little jealous. But then Hannah hasn't given Izzy any shots. That job was still performed by the Doc. Izzy got over the shock of the needle going in her arm quickly enough but I don't think it endeared her to the doctor any. So Hannah still wins for that day.
