A Day in Connecticut

This week, Izzy and I went down to visit Aunt Gail, Cousin Sarah and our friend Debbie and to get away from Worcester for a day. It was a little too cold and blustery for the beach but we had a lot of fun at the new playground down the street. We also got to eat barbeque with Debbie and Sarah. Yum! It was doubly good to see Sarah since she's moving down to Pennsylvania this week. Finally we took a walk around Harkness State Park until Gail came back from the Island. It was a loooong walk since Izzy had been having trouble napping and I wanted to let her sleep as long as possible. Izzy is a bear if she doesn't get her beauty rest! We got to see the Race Point pass the Ledge and we knew it was time to get back to Gail's to eat a little dinner and get in a few hugs before heading home to Worcester.

Up and Down!

Hey, Mom, whatcha doing on the other side?

Happy Easter

Easter at our house lasted a few weeks since it's my most favorite holiday. Even more than Christmas. Izzy helped me decorate the Easter tree well in advance and we got up the Easter clings. Those are still up since Izzy loves pointing out the bunny, chicks and eggs. They've been up for 6 weeks now and she still seems surprised to see them there. It's the little things, right, Izzy ?

For Holy Saturday, we decorated eggs Griffin showed off his dying skillz. Izzy showed early on that she was not to touch or be anywhere within reaching distance of the eggs or dye. Vinegar is not a tasty beverage. Sunday morning, the Easter Bunny left baskets of goodies for everybody. Izzy had a healthy pre-breakfast of peeps, chocolate, and craisins. Yum! Later on, everyone joined us for an Egg Hunt and Easter dinner. Kris is a wicked hider. Izzy and Griffin both fared pretty well. Izzy got 6 eggs and Griffin, I think got 9. And some of them were the "adult" eggs instead of the "kid" eggs. Izzy finally found the last egg that no one could find a week later in a box under the TV. Good job, Izzy! Maybe next year, she'll beat all of us.

Practicing walking outside

Mom, I want them all. What do you mean, "No?"

1st Birthday Party

We had a large gathering of family to celebrate Izzy Lou's First Birthday. It was one week late since there was a big bowling tournament on her actual birthday weekend. It was nice to spread things out a bit though. We had a lot of good food and of course cake and ice cream! Daddy made a homemade chocolate cake from scratch which Gramma Pearson then frosted and we put Great Grandpa's Pooh candle on top. So that cake was quite the joint effort :)

Izzy also got a lot of cool loot. Fortunately we had gotten a toy chest on her real birthday to hold everything. Izzy got a lot of help opening her gifts from the older kids and Griffin who has had more experience with these kind of things. Izzy got some pretty dresses and summer clothes. Now the weather needs to warm up! She also got a teddy bear with three "coats" and a ride'em train with, count them, 7 buttons, that make all different kinds of train and circus sounds. "Woowoooo! ... Roar!" And a tunnel and a toddler trike and a bucket and a bathing suit and a viking ship and books... Phew! She's set til next Christmas!

I hope she got out her thank you cards to everyone. It was quite a day made especially great with everyone there. Izzy's new favorite song is Happy Birthday :) Thank you, everybody!

That's quite a pile of presents, Izzy.
