Izzy Meets Great Aunts Martha and Kathy

Friday, Great Aunts Martha and Kathy came out to meet Miss Isabel and see Mommy's new house. It was a rainy day so the girls spent the afternoon inside chatting and cuddling Miss Izzy. Isabel was asleep at the beginning and was a bit fussy in the middle of the visit but decided to grace us with her pretty blue eyes and more pleasant demeanor after a bottle and a diaper change. Aunt Kathy brought some reading material about animals that like to eat a lot just like Izzy. Though Mommy hopes Izzy won't be eating a whole cow any time soon. Aunt Martha brought some very soft clothes for when Izzy is a bit bigger which may not be too much longer.

1 Month Old

As of Thursday, Izzy Lou has been on the outside for one whole month! Mommy and Daddy can't believe so much time has passed but at the same time are astounded by how long a month can seem. We can't wait for Tuesday when she has her doctor's appointment so we can see how much she has grown. Izzy's feet are now reaching the end of her PJ's and some of her hats have gotten a bit snug. Izzy also can spend more time in her carrier without trouble breathing which is a huge relief. As Cousin Livvie would say, she's "getting bigger and bigger all the time!"

Izzy's been a busy girl and has been more alert during the day. Though today she's a sleepy head due to a very busy weekend of visits and being a crankypants Saturday. Fussing takes a lot of energy! Izzy's been working on holding her head up. Though of course her back isn't steady yet so she has often ends up trying to pitch herself right out of Mommy's arms. Izzy's also been learning how to smile which is a nice expression to add to her ever expanding repertoire.

Isabel likes:
Taking a bath (doesn't even mind water on her head!)
Cuddling with Daddy
Sleeping on Mommy and Daddy's bed
Chilling on the floor or in the bouncy seat
"Dancing"
Brooke on American Idol

Isabel dislikes:
Coming out of the bath
Diaper changes
Tummy time (working on it)

Milestones/New Tricks:
Can track movement
Has side to side neck control
Can see across the room
Stops fussing when someone stands up to go check on her (punk!)
Wakes up a foot away from where she was put down in her crib.

Ok. Time to get out.

Izzy's First Easter

The Easter Bunny got to visit little Miss Izzy Lou and brought her a book, a video and some new jingly toys. No candy this year! Grandma Bunny also brought her a cute turtle basket that was almost as big as Izzy herself filled with goodies.

Izzy Lou hosted quite the feast this Easter complete with ham, maple glazed potatoes, and pineapple carrot cake. She had a grand time hanging out and got to spend some quality time with her cousin Griffin. Though she slept much of the day. Mommy can't wait until they're big enough for an Easter Egg Hunt.

Three Weeks Old

Hello.

Izzy turned 3 weeks old last Wednesday. Mommy's running a little late due to technical difficulties. Izzy's been more awake this past week and has been more engaged. She's really good about keeping herself entertained until she's hungry, or wet, or just wants to be held (of course). She's made friends with the tiger on her bouncy seat and likes any light source.

The big thing this week was that on Friday 3/14, Izzy finally lost her cord stump and now has a belly button. So far it's an outie. that means that Izzy got her first real bath that Saturday. No pictures since we wouldn't want her to stage legal action against Mommy and Daddy. She has now had a few baths and Mommy's gotten much better at the whole process. Izzy doesn't mind her head being wet and as long as she has a cloth on her belly, she's fine. Just doesn't like a cold belly. Well, who would?

Isabel likes:
Her Orange Jingly Elephant
Being a Baby Burrito
Pacifiers...until they fall out of her mouth
Her new polka dotted sling
Walks about the neighborhood
Foot Rubs

Isabel Does NOT like:
Her Thrush medication
Being on her tummy
Her diaper changed (at all!)

Family Easter Tradition

Saturday, The extended Horning Family went on their annual pilgrimage to Hebert's Candy Mansion. Look at all that candy! It's just as well that Izzy couldn't really see from inside the sling since she couldn't eat any of it anyway. Maybe next year. Mommy did get a few things for her and Daddy though.

Aunt Nuance's Birthday Party

Izzy aka Tilde Umlaut attended a birthday party Saturday and was the youngest attendee. She was quite the hit and accrued many compliments which Mommy hopes don't go to her head. Mommy and Daddy both enjoyed the chance to see friends they hadn't in a long time and Aunts Nuance and Carolyn gave their arms a much needed rest. Mommy brought her camera but forgot to ever take it out of her pocket. But that's just as well, what happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas.

Izzy's New Hangout

When all else fails, Izzy will calm down almost instantly in her new (used) sling. Mommy and Daddy love that!

Aunt Kate Meets Miss Izzy

Last Sunday, Aunt Kate came to visit Miss Izzy Lou. We had a good time outside in the sun though it was a bit chilly. Mommy finally got to decorate an Easter Tree since Daddy had planted one last fall.

Izzy's New Game

Izzy seems to prefer bare feet. She can remove socks at a pretty quick pace when no one's looking. Tuesday night, Mommy caught Miss Izzy in the act.

St. Pat's at Grandma Pat's

Sunday, we got to feast on corned beef and cabbage at Grandma Pat's. Of course Izzy got to have just milk. Next year she'll be able to join in. Uncle Ben of course was dressed in his finest for the holiday.

note: izzy's feet are showing. last week they didn't clear the pant legs.

Cranky Days, Sleepless Nights

Izzy Lou is now finally asleep though probably not for long. Maybe Mommy can do a quick post. Miss Izzy is going through a growth spurt. Daddy measured her as gaining over an inch in the past week. We can't wait to see what she is at her 1 month doctor's appointment. So Izzy has been a busy girl eating. Good thing Mommy got a couple bottles together last week! And all that eating means a lot of poop! Mommy got a healthy squirt tonight during a diaper change. Dreft laundry spray is the bomb!

Squawking is coming from the other room. Time to go!

Two Weeks Old

This week Izzy Lou turned two weeks old. And boy does it seem longer than just two weeks to Mommy and Daddy. Especially since Izzy could be dubbed Busy Izzy Lou. This week she woke up and the honeymoon is over. Fortunately Izzy is a sweetheart and a very determined one at that. She has continued to follow the sleeping schedule she had on the inside which is a relief to Mommy since Izzy was most awake in the afternoon and evening and usually slept until Mommy woke up in the morning. Of course this is still way too early for Daddy who isn't a teacher ;)

Let the "sleeping" baby SLEEP!

What's over there? Oh Hey!

Okay, so the Horning girls have a matching problem.

Isabel's Favorite Things:

Sleeping on her side (she goes there herself)

Her vitamins (mmm cherry flavoured)

Isabel's Dislikes:
Being on her tummy
Poopy diapers
Anything near her face
Being tickled

Turns/cranes head to see what's behind her
Rolled over onto her back from tummy (3/8 & 3/9)
