Mae is One Month Old!

Mae's been with us a whole month already! Time is definitely moving faster this time around. We've been trying to settle into a schedule now that Izzy's home with us full-time. Amazingly, Mae is able to sleep through the commotion of a toddler and two dogs. And more so, Izzy's been fairly good at sleeping through Mae's crying in the car or at night. To be safe, they have been napping on separate floors even though now everyone sleeps upstairs again at night. Most nights Mae has gone to bed by 10pm and has a feeding between 3:30 and 4:30 am and again at 7am. Today everyone, even Mommy and Daddy slept late until 8am!

Mae has become more interactive and we've seen a couple smiles already. She seems to be fairly easy-going. Even more so than Izzy who always had a stubborn streak. Mae likes to be held and is very cuddly. She enjoys being rocked to sleep and usually requires a pacifier until she's totally out. The hands are starting to get in the way of that but fortunately if she's tired enough we can swaddle her arms down.

I'm still amazed at the size difference between Mae and Izzy at the same ages. The yellow outfit is the size 3 months version because she didn't fit in the Newborn size of the same outfit. Izzy didn't wear size 3 mos. until she WAS 3 months old. It's been nice to not have to worry about her fitting in the carrier or the tub though. Mae is also very solid and has started to have better muscle control. Last week, Izzy got a little close to Mae's face while she was nursing and Mae pushed Izzy's face away. Of course, Izzy exclaimed that Mae had hit her. And so it begins. though to be fair, Mae had been still before so I don't think it was a random flailing.

Mae can:
Track an object with her eyes
Turn her head to track something
Get her hands in her mouth
Smile while awake (First seen 7/7/10)
Kick through her Swaddle Me
Almost hold her head up
Sleep up to 6 hours at night

Mae Likes:
Baths (even water poured over her head)
Her $10 second-hand swing
Her pacifier
Her mobile
Watching her big sister
Watching TV
Being Outside

Mae Dislikes:
Being wet
Major spit-up incidents (Out the nose!)
Being in the carrier for a long time
Waiting

The girls are both really cute, Katie! Glad to hear that things are going well. I hope you are feeling good and are able to get some rest. We have something for Mae...I need to get it in the mail! I think we saw Kris and Izzy at BJ's a couple weeks ago but didn't say hello because they would have no clue who we are. I only "know" them through your blog. Hope you are enjoying summer...It's flying!!
